Today we had dinner in the new organic only restaurant in the city centre of Dublin. When we got in there was only one table left, the one near the door! I had no problem with the coming and going and the wind but the table was on uneven ground. Beside us was a lonely guy sitting having his cappuccino while reading the Times. The waiter came, took our order, apologised for the "table situation" and went upstairs. While waiting for our meals we had a good conversation about or new banners for Knitt's shops and some other things. On the other table were two business guys having dinner and where talking about air pollution: "The city is so dusty and polluted. I can hardly breathe." The second man was looking outside the window and commented: "Oh yes, all these idiots, everyone is driving a car. They should stay at home."
At the Blanchardstown shopping center is something for free. NOT really? No! But once you are walking through it you can't image where all these people should live? It's totally packed and the people carrying arround the big bags with many nice things in it. Knitt and I went for dinner and we had some delicious vegan felafel's. Knitt hat a Hot chocolate and I had a crème brulée (try it! its gorgeous!). ...
All right. Daft.ie is the de facto Irish standard for selling / letting or sharing a flat, house, whatever. There are many estate agencies involved in this and therefore the one who wants to let is getting in deep trouble all the time. First of all they are not giving enough information, just a less as possible. Sometimes the information is even wrong. When you went for a viewing appointment expect that you might not view the apartment you have asked for. Expect that the "nice apparent compromises with everything" is directly near the highway. When you ask the agents on the phone questions about the flat / house you might not get any answerer because they don't know more than the ad at daft. When you ask for something you might get "oh, I have to ask the landlord" and you will never hear anything from them.
A normal Irish commuter train passenger will accept the following:
1st: There is an biased proportion of people standing on that door that will open at every station. On the other side it is nearly empty. This is the pears proportion. It is always the same: people are incapable of sharing space towards passenger who really needs it. Some are just reading their newspapers and never care for anyone else. I'm wondering how long Irish society will be able to handle this gapping difference.
2nd: The smell at Connolly Station is horrible.
3rd: The Maynooth line trains towards Connolly are already packed at Castleknock but Irishrail is not bringing up more service.
Yesterday we went for dinner to the new Yamamori Sushi restaurant in Dublin on the quays. A friend of mine told me before that it will be very loud. We rang Yamamori Noodles and they had no table available so I rang for Yamamori Sushi and we got a table for 4 at 7pm. When we entered the restaurant a sound wall hit my face. While walking behind the waiteress through the endless restaurant with its many tables (too many tables) I was thinking that today sushi has become available to everyone. Once on the table I wasn't able to get a little bit relaxed. It is a comming and going all the time. You could watch the cooks doing theire work while waiting for your miso soup. The food itself is delicious. I had miso soup (at the end - no really Yamamori thinks we want the main dish first and than the starter) and avocado norimaki with deep fried tofu.
2 days ago I have been travelling to Howth. I drove over the M50 (empty) toward M1 roudabound. Everything was ok till that point. From now the road started getting smaller and smaller and... But I managed to get to the top of Howth. I had my camera with my. The files are transfered yet but I haven't had the time to cut a short clip together. Anyway here are som pictures.
The camera is nice once you shot without any digital zoom usage but withit it is nearly impossible to get some good clips without a colour salad. For taking photographies it is not good as well. So I tried to get to the limit with it and I did it. The macro function is very nice
These days the Irish Film Festival takes place. We got tickets for the IFB shorts which were shown on Tuesday at 18.00 o’clock. Markus, a friend of mine, and I were sitting in his car at heavy traffic in the near of Dublin Christ church and in 10 minutes nothing moved on. It was already 08 minutes past 6 pm and the films were already running. We decided to park and walk the rest of the way to the IFB cinema. When we arrived and we wanted to get in a small guy told us that he will not allow us to get in as it will disturb the audience. I clearly stated that I want my money back now and he replied that "he is not in the position to give money back". I complaint, that this is not the Berlinale and there is no impact on the audience and that we had paid for it. Marcus went to the toilet. The guy than came back and said that he will now let us in. And we were telling him that one of us is missing at the moment. He than said in a very guild tripping way: “Oh guys I give you a chance and than…” I cut him off: “Stop, I will have a look and went to toilets to catch Markus”. We got in and had a seat in the first row. I can’t really tell something about the first film as we missed it.

Travelling from Dublin to Cork by bus is a very easy thing. Just book your ride with AirCoach. They drive you to Cork within 4 hours. The buses are really comfortable, even if you are tall. They stop once in the middle of nowhere for a 10 minute break, enough time to get yourself to the toilet and also to the shop to buy some chocolate. But as a word of warning: you should expect delays during the ride‑ the four hours journey time on paper does tend to be closer to 4 hours 30 minutes in reality.
When you arrive at Cork you will like the lovely sight at the river Lee and the several different bridges crossing it. Perhaps you have booked an room at a B&B in advance? If not than it is time to get a suitable accommodation. We will advise you to book in advance as Cork is a popular city especially in the summer. The Ardarahouse house is a very nice place to stay, affordable and peaceful.
