Nach dem ich mir zwar immer Sicherungen ziehe, aber gegen einen Komplettausfall des Systems nicht gewappnet bin, klone ich gerade meine System Festplatte. Unter Windows XP nutze ich dazu das Programm Acronis True Image, welches als Testversion läuft. Das Klonen der 400GB auf eine 500GB Platte läuft nach einem Neustart des Systems bevor es zum Login kommt. Diese Stelle in Windows XP dürfte einigen auch von Chckdsk her bekannt sein. Das Programm kopiert Partiton für Partition von einer Quell- auf eine Zielfestplatte und kann dabei, wenn von Kleiner auf Größer kopiert wird, entweder die Partitionen skalieren oder 1:1 kopieren. Eine individuelle Einstellung ist auch möglich. Für die 400:500 Kopie benötigt das Programm nicht ganz 1 Std. Da der MBR mitkopiert wird ist die Kopie sofort als eigenständiges System einsetzbar. Sollte also gegen den Erwartungen das System, meine geliebte HD, abschmieren, kommt die "Kopie" zum Einsatz.
Wie ich grade im offiziellen Joomla Developer blog lese wird die 1.0.x nächstes Jahr eingestellt. Im Blog heist es: "As of July 22, 2009, the Joomla 1.0.x series will no longer be supported". Mit Erscheinen der 1.6 wird es dann keine Unterstützung mehr für die 1.0.x geben. Es ist auch anzunehmen das viele der Erweiterungen für 1.0.x nicht mehr weiter entwickelt werden. Etwaige Security Leaks im Core könnten von der Community geschlossen werden. Bei den Erweiterungen wird es jedoch schwer diese durch die Community abzudecken. Es ist natürlich der Upgrade auf 1.x möglich allerdings wird dieser bei größeren Webseiten als problematisch eingestuft.
Nach dem es an dem Google Browser zu viel Kritik gab, er würde zu oft "nach Hause telefonieren", kommt nun eine echte Alternative in die Regale. Die Firma SRWare mit sitz in Trendelburg, Michelinerklärt mir das es irgendwo ein paar Kilometer nördlich von Kassel liegen würde, stellt einen Webbrowser auf der Basis Chromium mit Namen Iron vor. Der Browser sei laut Firmenseite von aller googelscher Datensammelwut befreit und biete ansonsten die Vorzüge des Browsers.
Ich hab das schöne Stück gleich mal installiert und bin beeindruckt.
Laut Heise.de ist die Firefox Version 3.02 erschienen, welche einige der als kritisch eingestuften Fehler beseitigt. Es handelt sich also um eine Sicherheitsupdate. Auch Seamonkey ist in einer neuen Version erschienen.

There are a lot of games around about Physics nowadays. When I was playing "Counter Strike" at a Lan Party some game developers where talking about how realistic the environment is simulated. Literally they where talking about the "Physics Engine" which makes barrels, machine guns and bullets in computer games behave like they would in real world. Let's put this aside because there are much more inventions around and we already had a look at two of them. There is Phun (or Pontifex) and we had this amazing drawing board video. Wouldn't it be nice to have this kind of tool we have seen in the video? Definitely! and! it is available. It's called Crayon Physics. Their blog indicates that it is not yet available but I have found an early version at Filefront.
It isn't like that I’m not having enough spare time. Workaholics never have spare time anyway. But we have fun, or as the open minded business consultant will say: Phun. Phun classes itself as a “2d physics construction kit” and if you haven’t spend enough time playing with Pontifex then this funny piece of code will en-light you!

Illustrator CS3 is out there to be bought since nearly over half a year. It is perhaps the most used Vector Graphic illustration programme at the moment. I’m not completely up2date with the software but I’d like to prepare myself a little bit. When I saw the CS3 in a classroom book including a CD for training I decided very fast to get it. The last 3 weeks I was channelling through 15 sections of basics, tips and tricks and some screen casts. The book without CD is readable but doesn’t give the whole experience of the classroom in a book series. From my point of view Adobe books are still published especially for MAC users as these books never cover the special context menu Windows user will have because of the right mouse button. There is plenty of stuff which was introduced and changed from Illustrator 9 to CS3 and most things are very useful, e.g. the “appearance menu”, a special menu where everything could be changed live on an object.
The last days were truley bussy. I was updating some websites and transfering them to a new hoster. Two sides have grown out of the small hosting packages and more memory was needed. Php limit with 16MB isn't really something that I like and 32 or 64MB are probably the thing to go for. As the websites needed Php5 and Php5 needs more and more the decission was very, very fast. And by the way the memory consumption of Drupal seems a little bit higher than that of Joomla. While transfering the domain I already started to configure the new website. Mysql immigration went nearly smooth, ok, the limit of phpmyadmin is lower with the new hoster, so I had to split the 4 meg DB up in pieces. Imagecache, a Drupal module, produced some serious errors when the site came online, but I got a good work around and all images with the Thickbox are now showing perfectly.
